Econibella Giveaway Products Review!

Image

Hello everyone! Today, I will be doing a review on a few fabulous beauty goodies that I won from an Econibella Instagram giveaway a couple of month ago. If you’re looking for a gentle eye cream, a rejuvenating toner, or a moisturizing cleanser, this review is perfect for you!

Image          The first product I will be reviewing is the Honey Girl Organics- Face and Eye Cream.  This cream is said to deliver “moisturizing results with natural raw honey and organic extra virgin olive oil.” It is can be used to “reduce fine lines” and to “soften, moisturize, and repair skin”. This crème boasts some amazing ingredients, such as organic extra virgin olive oil, beeswax with pollen, raw Pupukea Honey, royal jelly, and vitamin E. Based on my experience this crème really delivers! I have used this product under my eyes every day for about a month and have noticed a huge improvement in the texture of my skin. Not only does my skin feel softer, but I’ve noticed that a few really fine lines around my eyes have gone away. This crème is easy to apply and has a very light, flowery scent, which is perfect for those who don’t like strong scents.  The only con about this product is that it does take awhile to sink in. It is therefore, important to only use a small amount of product and to put it on at least 30 minutes before going to bed. Overall Rating -5/5

Image          Another product that captured my attention was the Honey Girl Organics- Facial Cleanser and Makeup Remover. It is said to remove “makeup and dirt without stripping the skin of its natural oils” and is made of nontoxic ingredients, such as organic extra virgin oil, beeswax, and Pupukea Honey. This cleanser has a very creamy consistency and much like the Face and Eye Cream, has a very light flowery scent. I like to massage it into my face and then remove it with a cleansing towel. Afterwards, my face feels very soft and hydrated for hours! Also, this cleanser does a fabulous job at removing all of my makeup, including waterproof mascara. I not only love how amazing the results are, but I also love the price of this cleanser. It only costs $19.49 for a 4 ounce bottle.  This is a total steal because not only are you getting a product made of wholesome ingredients, but you are also getting great results too!  The only negative I really found about this product is that you must use some sort of gritty towel to remove it; otherwise, you will be left with an oily film of the product on your face. It’s definitely not something you can just rinse off with your hands.  In addition, it’s important to shake the product really well before using it because it tends to separate. Overall Rating- 4.5/5

Image

Yet another Honey Girl Organics product worth mentioning is their Facial Toner. The toner “invigorates and purifies” skin and “softens and clears the complexion”.  It consists of skin friendly ingredients, including organic witch hazel, and propolis, rose and neroli essential oils.  The scent of this toner is simply divine! Putting this on feels a lot like stepping into a flower garden as you can definitely smell the rose and neroli oils. The scent stays on your skin for about 30 minutes or so, keeping your senses awake! Apart from the smell of this toner, I also love how it does a good job at removing any makeup I might have missed while cleansing. In addition, it makes my skin feel very soft and it only costs $19.49 for four ounces. It’s a great product for those who want to a luxurious toner while being on a budget. Overall Rating- 4.5/5

The last product that I would like to review is the Kenza Pure SPA Bar Soap. This is a new product from the line that is not sold separately on the Econibella website yet. However, you can purchase it in this Kenza set here. This soap contains some unique ingredients, such as crushed argan nut shells, neroli oil, and Prickly Pear Seed oil.  It can be used as both a facial soap and body soap. It has a lovely neroli scent and the crushed nut shells in it do a good job at exfoliating skin. In addition, this soap is also very moisturizing and makes my skin feel soft. I wish I had a bigger size of this soap since I used up my sample very quickly! Overall Rating- 5/5

If you would like to purchase any of the wonderful products mentioned in this review be sure to check out the Econibella website! I would also like to give a special thanks to Bellina Tse for hosting the giveaway and for giving me the opportunity to try out all of the goodies I mentioned!

Review: Eminence Sugar Plum Oil- Free Revitalizer

Image

Hello my lovelies! For starters, I would like to apologize for my lack of updates. School has really been kicking my butt and I have been stuck inside my study cave for the past month. I’m so happy that I finally have some time to write this review. Today, I would like to introduce you to the Eminence Sugar Plum Oil- Free Revitalizer. It’s a lightweight moisturizer that’s perfect for spring! I actually got it back in October and it has kept my skin looking good throughout the grueling NYC winter.

According to the official product description, this moisturizer “hydrates and balances oil production without clogging pores or drying out your skin. Formulated with vitamin-rich rosehip and watercress, it replenishes moisture and soothes as sage tones to diminish the appearance of large pores. Green tea offers nourishing antioxidant benefits to protect against damaging free-radicals, creating a youthful, radiant complexion.”

Ingredients: Sugar Plum, Plum Juice, Rosehip, Sage Extract, Green Tea Extract, Plum Nectar, Watercress Extract, Natural Cream Base, Biocomplex (Vitamin A, Vitamin C Ester,Vitamin E, Coenzyme Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid), Plum Essence, Glycine Derivative.

How to Apply: Apply a layer of moisturizer over the entire face and neck area and leave on. For a lighter application, emulsify a small amount of moisturizer in your hand with a few drops of water. For extra hydration, apply a thicker layer in dry areas.

Image

Pros:

  • Lightweight and perfect for going out
  • Dries to a matte finish
  • Doesn’t make me breakout
  • Has a light, sweet, and fruity scent that isn’t overpowering
  • Comes with a small spatula that’s perfect for scooping out the right amount of product
  • You only need to use a small amount per application. I’ve been using this once a day, almost every day since October and more than ½ the product is still left.

Cons:

  • You have to keep this product in the dark, which I always forget to do.
  • I could never imagine using my fingers to scoop the product up. That just screams- Hello Staph Aureus!
  • Doesn’t really diminish the size of my pores like it says in the description.

Time Used Before Review: Almost every day since October.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Totally amazing!!!

Where You Can Buy It: Dermstore.com, Eminence Organics Website.

Review: May Lindstrom- The Problem Solver Correcting Masque

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I’m beyond excited to write a review on one of the best masks that I’ve ever tried! I’ve read countless amazing reviews on May Lindstrom’s- The Problem Solver mask and have been dying to try it, but the $90 price tag was just too much for me. On Valentine’s Day, I decided to splurge and get it as a little gift from me to me, hehe. #imsobroke #bankrupcyhereicome #dontjudgeme. After just one use I immediately fell in love! My visible pores shrunk and my skin was just glowing! It felt as though a layer of skin just came off my face and it was kinda like that light feeling you get after getting a haircut. The next day my skin looked amazing, seriously amazing! Anyhow, I can go on blabbing about how awesome this mask is for a long time, so I’m going to stop and cover what you need to know about the mask and my experience with it!

According to the official product description, this mask is a “jet-black fusion of antioxidant-rich raw cacao, healing bamboo charcoal, soil nutrients, salts, and exotic warming spices go deep on a mission to reveal your most radiant self. This intense treatment masque effectively purifies & tightens pores, extinguishes inflammations, fights & heals blemishes, jump-starts circulation in the epidermis & detoxifies skin with delightful ease and power. The radically different powder-to-mousse formula activates on contact with water – only releasing its magic at the exact moment of use so you experience full potency every time.”

Ingredients: Fuller’s Earth Clay, Red Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, **Theobroma Cacao (Raw Cacao), Red Alaea Sea Salt, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Bicarbonate, Bamboo Carbon Charcoal Powder, *Vanilla Planifolia Bean, *Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower, *Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root, ***Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense), *Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), *Archangelica (Angelica) Root, *Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon), *Myristica Fragans (Nutmeg), *Syzygium Aromaticum (Clove), *Curcuma Longa (Turmeric), *Capsicum Annuum (Cayenne) Pepper.*Certified Organic **Fair Trade Certified ***Wild Harvested

Application: Activate a tablespoon of powder formula with equal parts water in a bowl, blending to form a soft mousse. Massage over skin and relax. Treatment time is 45 minutes (or until fully dry). Expect a slightly hot and tingling sensation. Rinse, and follow with The Youth Dew.

My Experience With the Application: When you mix the powder with water it starts to bubble, which is actually kinda cool since I have never experienced that with any other powder mask. After I put this on, I definitely feel a tingly, warm sensation that is bearable. I leave the mask on until it dries and then I remove it with lukewarm water. After I remove it, my skin usually looks slightly pink, but the color goes away after about 30 minutes. In addition, I’ve noticed that even after I remove the mask, I still feel the warm, tingly sensation for about an hour or so.

Pros:

  • This mask shrinks my pores and makes my skin glow. My skin seriously looks beyond amazing the next day after I use it. Also, I tend to get annoying little bumps on my skin sometimes, and this mask gets rid of them.
  • The packaging is so beautiful! It looks so luxurious. Plus, the mask jar can totally be reused and recycled. #imsogreen
  • This smells amazing too! It smells chocolaty and spicy.
  • This works as an amazing spot treatment.

Cons:

  • Obviously, the price, but the results are worth it! Plus, you get 8 ounces of this and that is a lot. If you use this mask about once a week, this mask will last for almost a year.
  • Other reviewers have claimed that this mask can stain white washcloths.
  • This mask can be a bit drying, so I would definitely recommend putting on a light moisturizer after using it. I personally recommend using the Eminence Sugar Plum Oil-Free Revitalizer, a moisturizer that is great for acne- prone skin.

Time Used Before Review: I used this once a week for 2 weeks and I love it!

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Josie Maran- Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

Hello my lovelies! Today I will be doing a review on the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream. I am a huge fan of the Josie Maran line and have been following it since it first appeared at Sephora stores. The line is eco-friendly and supports some great organizations, such as the City of Hope Cancer Center. In addition, every Josie Maran product has argan oil as an ingredient. The oil is great for your skin because it is chock full of antioxidants and minerals. The Argan Infinity Cream features argan oil among several other great ingredients such as, shea butter and avocado oil, to hydrate and condition your skin. According to the official product description, this product “delivers all the moisturizing benefits of argan oil in a portable, nongreasy, creamy oil form. The innovative formula starts as a cream and melts into an oil, making your complexion more luminous while tightening facial contours and preventing inflammation. Use it to hydrate and gently soothe undereyes, smooth flyaways, keep eyebrows in place, and condition lips. Mix it with powder blush or eye shadow to instantly transform it into a cream.”

Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit**, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate**, Beeswax**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)**, Glyceryl Dibehenate**, Tribehenin**, Glyceryl Behenate**, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil**, Tocopherol, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil**, Abyssinian Oil (Crambe Abyssinica) Seed Oil**, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil**, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract**, Soybean Glycerides**, Linoleic Acid**, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil** Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter**, Aleurites Moluccana Seed (Kukui Nut) Oil**, Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil**. *Organic. **Natural.

How to Use: This product has many uses and here are a couple of them.

-Deeply moisturize dry areas of the face.
-Soothe irritated skin caused by rosacea, wind, or sunburn.
-Soften elbows, heels, and other rough patches.
-Keep stray eyebrows in place.
-Smooth flyaways.
-Moisturize at night.
-Prevent razor burn and irritation.

How I Use It: I like to use this as a body moisturizer and as a lip balm before I go to bed. Also, I sometimes use this as an anti-frizz cream on my hair!

Pros:

  • This smells sooo good! It has a light sweet orange scent that’s very refreshing and invigorating.
  • You only need to use a little bit of the product per application. I only use a pea sized amount of this to moisturize my hands and to moisturize both my legs I use about a nickel-sized amount.
  • It’s so versatile! You can use it to keep your eyebrows in place or mix it with powder eyeshadow to create a cream eyeshadow.
  • It is very moisturizing. If I put this on at night I wake up with soft skin! It also really helps with frizzy hair days!
  • It’s small in size and fits perfectly into my purse, making it perfect for traveling.

Cons:

  • The consistency is a bit off. The oil separates from the rest of the ingredients and comes out of the tube first followed by the cream part. Storing the product upright helps a little!
  • It takes a long time to sink it. I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour and that’s frustrating!
  • The price. It costs $28.00 for 2.2 fluid ounces.
  • It’s very thick and oily and I’m afraid to put this on my sensitive, acne prone facial skin, however this may be okay for people who have dry skin.

Time Used Before Review: 3 to 4 times a week for 1 month.

Overall Rating: 4/5

Where to buy: The Josie Maran Website and at Sephora.

Get Clear, Sexy Skin! Tips for Treating Mild Acne

Image

Hi everyone! Today, I will be sharing my experiences with mild acne and a few tips on how to control the condition. A few years ago, I all of sudden started to develop acne. My skin was perfectly clear beforehand and I completely freaked out! I bought a zillion different products, from argan oil to Proactiv, hoping that they would help, but they made my skin look even worse. It got so bad that I eventually developed a cystic acne lesion. At that point, I was absolutely mortified! I felt so grossed out by my face I ended up putting pounds of makeup on every day to cover up the pimples. I then made an appointment to a dermatologist, who said that my acne is most likely due to hormonal changes going on in my body, and that soon the changes will cease. I came home that day disappointed, and with a prescription for a benzoyl peroxide cream. The cream proved to be a disaster! It made my sensitive skin flaky, inflamed, and dry. After reading up on the potential negative side effects of benzoyl peroxide, such as the fact that it can prolong scarring, I knew I had to try something else. I thought it would be best to try some natural acne treatments and after a year of trial and error, I have found ways to keep my skin clear! I still get a few breakouts whenever I’m under stress, but for most of the time, my skin looks amazing and I’m really happy with it! Below I have put together a list of a few things that really helped to treat my mild acne. Every month, I will add post more tips on how to keep your skin looking healthy and radiant!

  1. STOP PICKING!!!!!- If you want clear skin you need to stop doing this ASAP!!! It is one of the worst things you can do for your skin, since you can get an infection and scar your face. I know, I know you can’t help it because I’ve been there. I used to pick at my pimples like a maniac. It almost felt like some form of stress release. What helped me, was finding ways to distract myself. For example, if the thought of picking at my pimples crossed my mind, I would distract myself with another activity, such as working out or studying. It takes effort but you have to try and not give up! Just remember- PICKING IS THE WORST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR FACE!!! Just put on a spot treatment, a bit of concealer, and walk away feeling confident!
  2. MASKS ARE AMAZING! – Throughout my struggle with acne, facial masks have been my best friends. They’re relaxing, convenient, and are effective. I particularly love clay masks. They improve circulation to your skin and also draw out harmful toxins, oils, and dirt. A great clay mask that I use is the 100% Pure Pineapple Enzyme Facial Peel Mask, that contains kaolin clay.  Also, since clay masks can be drying, they should be alternated with moisturizing masks. You can make a moisturizing mask at home with ingredients such as honey or plain yogurt. One great mask that you can buy is the Sequoia Beauty Honey Berry Enzyme Mask. Be sure to check out my review for it here! I like to put on different masks two to three times a week, while studying or before going to bed.
  3.  MAKE A FACIAL STEAM BATH- I like to make a facial steam bath at least once a week. It helps to unclog pores and improves circulation to the face. It also makes my skin feel moisturized and makes me feel incredibly relaxed! To make a steam bath just boil two cups of water in a pot and allow for it to cool a little bit. Afterwards, cover your face with a towel and hold it 12 inches away from the pot for about 10 minutes. BE CAREFUL! You don’t want to burn yourself by touching the pot or getting too close to the steam! Also, you can add a few herbs to the pot for additional benefits, such as chamomile and strawberry leaf. In addition, if your skin is incredibly sensitive and if you suffer from conditions such as rosacea, a fungal infection, or cystic acne,  I would not recommend making a steam bath since that can actually cause more harm than good for your face.
  4. EASE UP ON SKIN PRODUCTS- Try not to cover up your face with tons of different products, including creams and makeup. These things may aggravate your skin and clog your pores. Also, if something is labeled as being hypoallergenic, that doesn’t mean you should pile it on your face and wear it all day long. Your skin needs to breathe! In fact, I suggest you stop using almost all products until you figure out what aggravates or helps your acne. If you get a pimple just cover it up with some concealer and that’s it! Over time you can try out new skincare products one by one to see whether or not they are good for. Also, remember that what works for you may not work for someone else! For example, a friend of mine swears by argan oil, but it makes my skin break out like crazy! So, try and see what works for your skin!
  5. EXERCISE- Here, I just have to put in this quote said by Elle Woods in Legally Blonde- “Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don’t shoot their husbands, they just don’t.” Okay, so apart from the endorphin release and husband shooting preventive methods exercise can give you, exercise is also amazing for your skin! By increasing blood flow, exercise helps to nourish skin cells and also helps to carry away harmful toxins, including free radical that can age your skin. It pretty much clears your skin from the inside out! Plus, I personally love that post-workout glow my skin gets! Here are some great dance tunes you might not have heard of, that you can get you into workout mode!

I hope these tips are helpful! Do you have any tips for treating mild acne? What did you think of these tips? Be sure to comment below! Also, don’t forget to check out Naturalinnas on InstagramFB, and Twitter! =)

Review: The Bamboo Charcoal Japanese Konjac Sponge

photo

Hi everyone! A few weeks ago I entered a contest on the Japanese Konjac Sponge Company FB page and won a free Bamboo Charcoal Konjac sponge. I was instantly excited because lately I have been hearing a lot of hype about konjac sponges. After just one use I was instantly hooked on it! According to the company’s official website:

“Konjac (“Konnyaku”) plant is a perennial belonging to the Araceae family. The botanical name is Amorphophallus Konjac. It is believed to have originated in the Indochinese region and was introduced to Japan from China. The Japanese have used it for over 1,500 years as part of a traditional healthy food and cooking ingredients. Its main component is Glucomannan, and its solution is a calorie-free dietary fiber that is very elastic. Konjac is rich in vitamin (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, & E), protein, lipids, fatty acids and natural minerals such as copper, zinc, iron and magnesium. Combining these natural ingredients with its gentle texture, Konjac is not only establishing itself as a healthy food, but also make it excellent for use in skin care.”

image

Learn more about the product and my experiences below!

Ingredients: 100% Konjac Glucomannan, Bamboo Charcoal Extract Powder

How to Use It: Rinse and soak the dry sponge with warm water until fully softened and expanded. Cleanse your face with water-soaked sponge or use daily with your favorite cleanser to complement and create a rich lather for an incredibly therapeutic experience.

How I Use It: I first rinse the sponge with warm water until it has been fully softened. I then apply a cleanser and massage my face with the sponge in a circular motion for about 30 seconds. The cleanser that I have been using is the Osmia Organics Black Clay Facial Soap.

Pros:

  • I love, love, love how my skin feels soooo soft and clean after using this sponge! After I use it I feel that my moisturizer tends to sink in better, making my skin even softer!
  • The texture of the sponge feels very nice. It is squishy and reminds me of marshmallows. Also, when I massage my skin with it, it feels soft but firm, providing a gentle exfoliation that doesn’t cause irritation to my sensitive skin.
  • The size of the sponge is just right! It fits comfortably in my hands.
  • The price is great! It only costs $11.50, while brands like Boscia market the konjac sponge for a much more expensive price.

Cons:

  • It does take a while to dry creating an environment for increased bacterial growth. I soak it once a week in hot water to disinfect it.

Time Used Before Review: For about 3 weeks, once every other day, since I don’t like to over-exfoliate my extremely sensitive skin.

Overall Rating: 5/5

Where to Buy: The official company website!

DIY: Shine Shine Away Basic 3-Ingredient Hair Rinse for Voluminous and Shiny Hair!

Hey everyone! Today, I will be sharing a hair rinse recipe that will make your hair look vibrant and full. Applying a hair rinse after shampooing and conditioning can remove product residues, make your hair softer, and can make your hair shinier. This hair rinse is super easy to make and only requires 3 key ingredients- organic horsetail herb, organic apple cider vinegar, and some H2O. Trust me after you try out this rinse, Rihanna will have nothing on you since your hair will be shining bright like a diamond! =P

Image

This rinse makes my hair look shiny and it helps with the curly hair tangles!

The Scoop on Horsetail Herb

  • It’s one of the most abundant sources of silica. Silica helps to strengthen brittle hair and can give it incredible shine.
  • Contains many minerals that support hair health.
  • When used in a rinse, it can promote increased circulation to the hair follicles resulting in increased hair growth.

The Scoop on Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Removes product residues
  • Acts as a natural detangler.
  • Balances the pH of the scalp
  • Keeps hair moisturized by sealing the hair cuticle. Read more about these benefits here!

The Recipe

Ingredients: 3 1/2 cups of water, 2-3 tablespoons of the horsetail herb, and 1/2 cup of apple cider vinegar.

Directions: Warm the water in a pot until it begins to boil. Turn off the heat and add in the herb and vinegar. Cover the pot with a lid. Allow the mixture to sit for a few hours until it has cooled. Strain the mixture and dispose of the herb remnants. Pour the rinse over your hair after you have shampooed and conditioned it. Do not wash it out! Proceed with styling.

Some Tips:

  • You can adjust ingredient ratios to better suit your hair needs. If after using this rinse your hair becomes drier, add more A.C.V and less of the horsetail herb. If your hair becomes oily, add less A.C.V and a bit more horsetail.
  • If you have curly hair, I suggest adding in some Marshmallow Herb which acts as an amazing detangler!
  • You can add in a few other herbs to enhance your hair color. Blondes can use chamomile, lemon peel, or mullein flowers. Brunettes can use nettle, rosemary, and sage. Redheads can use calendula, red rose petals, and red hibiscus.

Review: Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser

DSC03405

Hi everyone! Today I will be doing a review on my current favorite cleanser- the Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser. I discovered this oil-based cleanser after reading stellar reviews about it on several beauty blogs. In addition, there has been a lot of hype going on over probiotic and oil- based products in the skincare industry. My curiosity got the best of me, and I immediately put this cleanser on my Christmas wish list. After one use I fell in love with it! According to the company’s official website:

“This intelligent, aromatic, creamy infusion glides on to the skin and lifts off all impurities and make- up. It fuses probiotic and peptide technologies with BioOrganic plant and flower essences to hydrate and soothe dull and dehydrated skin promoting a luminous, dewy, radiant glow whilst helping to prevent skin ageing. Fragranced with an uplifting essential oil blend of Eucalyptus, Chamomile, Rosemary and Bergamot this creamy cleanser along with its soft antibacterial bamboo muslin cloth buffs away dead skin cells and make-up whilst helping to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. This in turn speeds skin cell turnover, resulting in a brighter complexion with fresher, younger skin cells ready for hydration on the surface.”

Check out more product info and my pros and cons list below!

Ingredients: Aqua/ Water, Dicapryly Carbonate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Cocoglycerides, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Rhus Verniciflua Peel Wax, Theobroma Cacoa (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Kigelia Africana Fruit Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Adansonia Digitata Fruit Extract, Lactose, Lactis Proteinum/ Milk Protein, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel Oil, Panthenol, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, Limonene*, Linalool*, (*Naturally Occurring In Essential Oil)

Application: Apply to dry skin, massage deeply with fingertips to lift daily grime and makeup away from the skin and stimulate circulation. Remove cleanser with the muslin to gently exfoliate and reveal a bright, clean and glowing complexion. Ensure the cloth is warm and damp, and gently sweep over the skin.

How I Apply It: After putting this on, I like to massage my skin for several minutes. After rinsing this off, I sometimes reapply it to get a deeper clean.

Pros:

  • Even though this cleanser is oil-based it has a very nice thick and creamy consistency. It doesn’t feel oily at all when I put this into my hands.
  • I really like the muslin cloth that comes with it. It’s very soft, but it effectively removes all traces of makeup. You get a light exfoliation.
  • My face feels amazing after using this! It feels very soft and moisturized. Plus, I also have very sensitive skin, and this has not caused any irritation.
  • It really removes all traces of makeup including, water-proof mascara.
  • You only need to use a small amount of this product at every application.
  • This smells very earthy and clean.
  • The packaging is gorgeous and looks really elegant.

Cons:

  • I’m not a fan of cleansers that come in jars. Just the thought of anything in a jar makes my inner neat freak cringe. I’m always afraid of contaminating the product so I wash my hands thoroughly before scooping up this product. Also, I sometimes use a sterilized scooper. My microbiology professor would be oh so proud! =/
  • This is a bit pricey- $53 for a 4 fluid ounce jar. At the same time, you only need to use a little bit at every application.

Time Used Before Review: I applied this about once a day for 2 weeks.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Sequoia Beauty- Honey Berry Enzyme Mask

Hola! Today I will be doing a review on my current favorite facial mask- the Honey Berry Enzyme Mask by Sequoia Beauty. I ordered this mask about a month ago and have been hooked on it ever since. According to the company’s website“Sequoia Beauty is an organic flower and herb based skin care line with an emphasis on local ingredients. The products cater to the needs of your skin, as well as your own physical and spiritual well-being.” The mask fits perfectly in the company’s motto! It contains several great ingredients, such as raw honey, an antiseptic and moisturizer, and royal jelly, an ingredient known for its anti-aging properties. Check out the full ingredient list and my list of product pros and cons below!

Image

Ingredients: Raw Honey, Raw Royal Jelly, Raw Strawberries, Raw Blueberries, and White Grapefruit Essential Oil

Application Instructions: Put on clean skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes.

How I apply it: 10-15 minutes? #PUHLEASE I leave this deliciousness on for a full hour! When I rinse it off I like to first wet my hands and rub my face in circular motions. This mask has strawberry and blueberry grains in it that act as exfoliates.

Pros:

  • The smell! This smells so sweet and honey like!
  • After I take it off my skin feels so soft and moisturized. I can’t stop touching my face!
  • This mask helped to lighten up my acne scars and it keeps my skin clear.
  • It just feels really luxurious!!!

Cons:

  • It’s a bit pricey- $30 for 2 oz. Luckily I got this for $22 during a Black Friday sale over at the Organic Beauty Talk Shop.
  • It tends to drip off my face easily so I can’t move around a lot when I have this on.
  • It’s hard to apply this since it is very sticky. This is good on one hand since the product is truly natural and is made of honey. To get around the stickiness I use a spoon to spread this all over my face. I think it would have been nice if the product came with a mini spatula or a scooper.

Time Used Before Review: I applied a thin layer of this mask twice a week for a month.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5- Is there a way to bathe in this stuff?!

Loco for Cocoa! DIY- Cocoa Tea and Glow Glow Cocoa Mask

Merry Christmas everyone!!! With the holidays upon us I thought it would be a good idea to have a beauty post on a popular holiday ingredient- Cocoa! Below you will find a recipe for a moisturizing cocoa beauty mask and a delicious spin on hot cocoa.

Image

The Scoop on Cocoa! A few Health Benefits

  • The antioxidant concentration in a cup of hot cocoa is greater than the antioxidant concentration in a cup of green or black tea.
  • Is heart healthy– Helps to reduce blood pressure, lowers cholesterol levels, and inhibits platelet aggregation.
  • Special compounds in cocoa called flavonoids increase blood flow to the brain resulting in better cognitive function. Third semester of PA school here I come!!! =P

A few Beauty Benefits

  • Is full of antioxidants that can help to repair damaged skin.
  • Can protect skin against sunburn.
  • Gives your skin a healthy glow!

DIY: The Glow Glow Cocoa Mask- This mask is super moisturizing and your skin will glow after you remove it. Plus, it smells absolutely divine!

Ingredients: 1 tablespoon organic cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon of honey, 1/2 teaspoon of melted coconut oil, and 1 tablespoon of plain yogurt.

Feel free to add more or less ingredients to get the consistency you want.  Apply this mask onto your face and leave it on for about 20-40 minutes. I personally like to leave this on for a full 40 minutes to get the maximum benefits.

DIY: Cocoa Tea- if you haven’t licked away all of the Glow Glow Cocoa Mask perhaps you should make this delicious tea to satisfy your chocolate craving. I discovered this tea while vacationing in St. Lucia. It is a local breakfast staple there and it tastes amazing. While you may think it’s just hot cocoa – it actually tastes like chocolate but it also tastes like tea.

Ingredients: 1 cup of water, 4 tbs of grated organic cocoa, and 1/2 cup of milk. Also you may add in a few spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla. Sugar is also optional.

Directions: Pour the water, cocoa, and milk into a pot and boil the mixture for 5 minutes.  Mix the ingredients as they are boiling with a spoon to prevent the mixture from overflowing. Then strain and serve. And there you have it, fresh cocoa tea! Enjoy! =)
