Image

Hello my lovelies! For starters, I would like to apologize for my lack of updates. School has really been kicking my butt and I have been stuck inside my study cave for the past month. I’m so happy that I finally have some time to write this review. Today, I would like to introduce you to the Eminence Sugar Plum Oil- Free Revitalizer. It’s a lightweight moisturizer that’s perfect for spring! I actually got it back in October and it has kept my skin looking good throughout the grueling NYC winter.

According to the official product description, this moisturizer “hydrates and balances oil production without clogging pores or drying out your skin. Formulated with vitamin-rich rosehip and watercress, it replenishes moisture and soothes as sage tones to diminish the appearance of large pores. Green tea offers nourishing antioxidant benefits to protect against damaging free-radicals, creating a youthful, radiant complexion.”

Ingredients: Sugar Plum, Plum Juice, Rosehip, Sage Extract, Green Tea Extract, Plum Nectar, Watercress Extract, Natural Cream Base, Biocomplex (Vitamin A, Vitamin C Ester,Vitamin E, Coenzyme Q10, Alpha Lipoic Acid), Plum Essence, Glycine Derivative.

How to Apply: Apply a layer of moisturizer over the entire face and neck area and leave on. For a lighter application, emulsify a small amount of moisturizer in your hand with a few drops of water. For extra hydration, apply a thicker layer in dry areas.

Pros:

  • Lightweight and perfect for going out
  • Dries to a matte finish
  • Doesn’t make me breakout
  • Has a light, sweet, and fruity scent that isn’t overpowering
  • Comes with a small spatula that’s perfect for scooping out the right amount of product
  • You only need to use a small amount per application. I’ve been using this once a day, almost every day since October and more than ½ the product is still left.

Cons:

  • You have to keep this product in the dark, which I always forget to do.
  • I could never imagine using my fingers to scoop the product up. That just screams- Hello Staph Aureus!
  • Doesn’t really diminish the size of my pores like it says in the description.

Time Used Before Review: Almost every day since October.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5 Totally amazing!!!

Where You Can Buy It: Dermstore.com, Eminence Organics Website.

Review: May Lindstrom- The Problem Solver Correcting Masque

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I’m beyond excited to write a review on one of the best masks that I’ve ever tried! I’ve read countless amazing reviews on May Lindstrom’s- The Problem Solver mask and have been dying to try it, but the $90 price tag was just too much for me. On Valentine’s Day, I decided to splurge and get it as a little gift from me to me, hehe. #imsobroke #bankrupcyhereicome #dontjudgeme. After just one use I immediately fell in love! My visible pores shrunk and my skin was just glowing! It felt as though a layer of skin just came off my face and it was kinda like that light feeling you get after getting a haircut. The next day my skin looked amazing, seriously amazing! Anyhow, I can go on blabbing about how awesome this mask is for a long time, so I’m going to stop and cover what you need to know about the mask and my experience with it!

According to the official product description, this mask is a “jet-black fusion of antioxidant-rich raw cacao, healing bamboo charcoal, soil nutrients, salts, and exotic warming spices go deep on a mission to reveal your most radiant self. This intense treatment masque effectively purifies & tightens pores, extinguishes inflammations, fights & heals blemishes, jump-starts circulation in the epidermis & detoxifies skin with delightful ease and power. The radically different powder-to-mousse formula activates on contact with water – only releasing its magic at the exact moment of use so you experience full potency every time.”

Ingredients: Fuller’s Earth Clay, Red Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, **Theobroma Cacao (Raw Cacao), Red Alaea Sea Salt, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Bicarbonate, Bamboo Carbon Charcoal Powder, *Vanilla Planifolia Bean, *Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower, *Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root, ***Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense), *Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), *Archangelica (Angelica) Root, *Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon), *Myristica Fragans (Nutmeg), *Syzygium Aromaticum (Clove), *Curcuma Longa (Turmeric), *Capsicum Annuum (Cayenne) Pepper.*Certified Organic **Fair Trade Certified ***Wild Harvested

Application: Activate a tablespoon of powder formula with equal parts water in a bowl, blending to form a soft mousse. Massage over skin and relax. Treatment time is 45 minutes (or until fully dry). Expect a slightly hot and tingling sensation. Rinse, and follow with The Youth Dew.

My Experience With the Application: When you mix the powder with water it starts to bubble, which is actually kinda cool since I have never experienced that with any other powder mask. After I put this on, I definitely feel a tingly, warm sensation that is bearable. I leave the mask on until it dries and then I remove it with lukewarm water. After I remove it, my skin usually looks slightly pink, but the color goes away after about 30 minutes. In addition, I’ve noticed that even after I remove the mask, I still feel the warm, tingly sensation for about an hour or so.

Pros:

  • This mask shrinks my pores and makes my skin glow. My skin seriously looks beyond amazing the next day after I use it. Also, I tend to get annoying little bumps on my skin sometimes, and this mask gets rid of them.
  • The packaging is so beautiful! It looks so luxurious. Plus, the mask jar can totally be reused and recycled. #imsogreen
  • This smells amazing too! It smells chocolaty and spicy.
  • This works as an amazing spot treatment.

Cons:

  • Obviously, the price, but the results are worth it! Plus, you get 8 ounces of this and that is a lot. If you use this mask about once a week, this mask will last for almost a year.
  • Other reviewers have claimed that this mask can stain white washcloths.
  • This mask can be a bit drying, so I would definitely recommend putting on a light moisturizer after using it. I personally recommend using the Eminence Sugar Plum Oil-Free Revitalizer, a moisturizer that is great for acne- prone skin.

Time Used Before Review: I used this once a week for 2 weeks and I love it!

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Josie Maran- Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

Hello my lovelies! Today I will be doing a review on the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream. I am a huge fan of the Josie Maran line and have been following it since it first appeared at Sephora stores. The line is eco-friendly and supports some great organizations, such as the City of Hope Cancer Center. In addition, every Josie Maran product has argan oil as an ingredient. The oil is great for your skin because it is chock full of antioxidants and minerals. The Argan Infinity Cream features argan oil among several other great ingredients such as, shea butter and avocado oil, to hydrate and condition your skin. According to the official product description, this product “delivers all the moisturizing benefits of argan oil in a portable, nongreasy, creamy oil form. The innovative formula starts as a cream and melts into an oil, making your complexion more luminous while tightening facial contours and preventing inflammation. Use it to hydrate and gently soothe undereyes, smooth flyaways, keep eyebrows in place, and condition lips. Mix it with powder blush or eye shadow to instantly transform it into a cream.”

Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit**, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate**, Beeswax**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)**, Glyceryl Dibehenate**, Tribehenin**, Glyceryl Behenate**, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil**, Tocopherol, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil**, Abyssinian Oil (Crambe Abyssinica) Seed Oil**, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil**, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract**, Soybean Glycerides**, Linoleic Acid**, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil** Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter**, Aleurites Moluccana Seed (Kukui Nut) Oil**, Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil**. *Organic. **Natural.

How to Use: This product has many uses and here are a couple of them.

-Deeply moisturize dry areas of the face.
-Soothe irritated skin caused by rosacea, wind, or sunburn.
-Soften elbows, heels, and other rough patches.
-Keep stray eyebrows in place.
-Smooth flyaways.
-Moisturize at night.
-Prevent razor burn and irritation.

How I Use It: I like to use this as a body moisturizer and as a lip balm before I go to bed. Also, I sometimes use this as an anti-frizz cream on my hair!

Pros:

  • This smells sooo good! It has a light sweet orange scent that’s very refreshing and invigorating.
  • You only need to use a little bit of the product per application. I only use a pea sized amount of this to moisturize my hands and to moisturize both my legs I use about a nickel-sized amount.
  • It’s so versatile! You can use it to keep your eyebrows in place or mix it with powder eyeshadow to create a cream eyeshadow.
  • It is very moisturizing. If I put this on at night I wake up with soft skin! It also really helps with frizzy hair days!
  • It’s small in size and fits perfectly into my purse, making it perfect for traveling.

Cons:

  • The consistency is a bit off. The oil separates from the rest of the ingredients and comes out of the tube first followed by the cream part. Storing the product upright helps a little!
  • It takes a long time to sink it. I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour and that’s frustrating!
  • The price. It costs $28.00 for 2.2 fluid ounces.
  • It’s very thick and oily and I’m afraid to put this on my sensitive, acne prone facial skin, however this may be okay for people who have dry skin.

Time Used Before Review: 3 to 4 times a week for 1 month.

Overall Rating: 4/5

Where to buy: The Josie Maran Website and at Sephora.

Review: Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser

DSC03405

Hi everyone! Today I will be doing a review on my current favorite cleanser- the Aurelia Probiotic Skincare Miracle Cleanser. I discovered this oil-based cleanser after reading stellar reviews about it on several beauty blogs. In addition, there has been a lot of hype going on over probiotic and oil- based products in the skincare industry. My curiosity got the best of me, and I immediately put this cleanser on my Christmas wish list. After one use I fell in love with it! According to the company’s official website:

“This intelligent, aromatic, creamy infusion glides on to the skin and lifts off all impurities and make- up. It fuses probiotic and peptide technologies with BioOrganic plant and flower essences to hydrate and soothe dull and dehydrated skin promoting a luminous, dewy, radiant glow whilst helping to prevent skin ageing. Fragranced with an uplifting essential oil blend of Eucalyptus, Chamomile, Rosemary and Bergamot this creamy cleanser along with its soft antibacterial bamboo muslin cloth buffs away dead skin cells and make-up whilst helping to stimulate the skin’s natural renewal process. This in turn speeds skin cell turnover, resulting in a brighter complexion with fresher, younger skin cells ready for hydration on the surface.”

Check out more product info and my pros and cons list below!

Ingredients: Aqua/ Water, Dicapryly Carbonate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycerin, Cocoglycerides, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Glucoside, Rhus Verniciflua Peel Wax, Theobroma Cacoa (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Kigelia Africana Fruit Extract, Hibiscus Sabdariffa Flower Extract, Adansonia Digitata Fruit Extract, Lactose, Lactis Proteinum/ Milk Protein, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Schinziophyton Rautanenii Kernel Oil, Panthenol, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Xanthan Gum, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydroacetic Acid, Citric Acid, Limonene*, Linalool*, (*Naturally Occurring In Essential Oil)

Application: Apply to dry skin, massage deeply with fingertips to lift daily grime and makeup away from the skin and stimulate circulation. Remove cleanser with the muslin to gently exfoliate and reveal a bright, clean and glowing complexion. Ensure the cloth is warm and damp, and gently sweep over the skin.

How I Apply It: After putting this on, I like to massage my skin for several minutes. After rinsing this off, I sometimes reapply it to get a deeper clean.

Pros:

  • Even though this cleanser is oil-based it has a very nice thick and creamy consistency. It doesn’t feel oily at all when I put this into my hands.
  • I really like the muslin cloth that comes with it. It’s very soft, but it effectively removes all traces of makeup. You get a light exfoliation.
  • My face feels amazing after using this! It feels very soft and moisturized. Plus, I also have very sensitive skin, and this has not caused any irritation.
  • It really removes all traces of makeup including, water-proof mascara.
  • You only need to use a small amount of this product at every application.
  • This smells very earthy and clean.
  • The packaging is gorgeous and looks really elegant.

Cons:

  • I’m not a fan of cleansers that come in jars. Just the thought of anything in a jar makes my inner neat freak cringe. I’m always afraid of contaminating the product so I wash my hands thoroughly before scooping up this product. Also, I sometimes use a sterilized scooper. My microbiology professor would be oh so proud! =/
  • This is a bit pricey- $53 for a 4 fluid ounce jar. At the same time, you only need to use a little bit at every application.

Time Used Before Review: I applied this about once a day for 2 weeks.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5
