Review: May Lindstrom- The Problem Solver Correcting Masque

Happy Saturday everyone! Today, I’m beyond excited to write a review on one of the best masks that I’ve ever tried! I’ve read countless amazing reviews on May Lindstrom’s- The Problem Solver mask and have been dying to try it, but the $90 price tag was just too much for me. On Valentine’s Day, I decided to splurge and get it as a little gift from me to me, hehe. #imsobroke #bankrupcyhereicome #dontjudgeme. After just one use I immediately fell in love! My visible pores shrunk and my skin was just glowing! It felt as though a layer of skin just came off my face and it was kinda like that light feeling you get after getting a haircut. The next day my skin looked amazing, seriously amazing! Anyhow, I can go on blabbing about how awesome this mask is for a long time, so I’m going to stop and cover what you need to know about the mask and my experience with it!

According to the official product description, this mask is a “jet-black fusion of antioxidant-rich raw cacao, healing bamboo charcoal, soil nutrients, salts, and exotic warming spices go deep on a mission to reveal your most radiant self. This intense treatment masque effectively purifies & tightens pores, extinguishes inflammations, fights & heals blemishes, jump-starts circulation in the epidermis & detoxifies skin with delightful ease and power. The radically different powder-to-mousse formula activates on contact with water – only releasing its magic at the exact moment of use so you experience full potency every time.”

Ingredients: Fuller’s Earth Clay, Red Moroccan Rhassoul Clay, **Theobroma Cacao (Raw Cacao), Red Alaea Sea Salt, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Bicarbonate, Bamboo Carbon Charcoal Powder, *Vanilla Planifolia Bean, *Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Flower, *Althaea Officinalis (Marshmallow) Root, ***Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense), *Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), *Archangelica (Angelica) Root, *Cinnamomum Zeylanicum (Cinnamon), *Myristica Fragans (Nutmeg), *Syzygium Aromaticum (Clove), *Curcuma Longa (Turmeric), *Capsicum Annuum (Cayenne) Pepper.*Certified Organic **Fair Trade Certified ***Wild Harvested

Application: Activate a tablespoon of powder formula with equal parts water in a bowl, blending to form a soft mousse. Massage over skin and relax. Treatment time is 45 minutes (or until fully dry). Expect a slightly hot and tingling sensation. Rinse, and follow with The Youth Dew.

My Experience With the Application: When you mix the powder with water it starts to bubble, which is actually kinda cool since I have never experienced that with any other powder mask. After I put this on, I definitely feel a tingly, warm sensation that is bearable. I leave the mask on until it dries and then I remove it with lukewarm water. After I remove it, my skin usually looks slightly pink, but the color goes away after about 30 minutes. In addition, I’ve noticed that even after I remove the mask, I still feel the warm, tingly sensation for about an hour or so.

Pros:

  • This mask shrinks my pores and makes my skin glow. My skin seriously looks beyond amazing the next day after I use it. Also, I tend to get annoying little bumps on my skin sometimes, and this mask gets rid of them.
  • The packaging is so beautiful! It looks so luxurious. Plus, the mask jar can totally be reused and recycled. #imsogreen
  • This smells amazing too! It smells chocolaty and spicy.
  • This works as an amazing spot treatment.

Cons:

  • Obviously, the price, but the results are worth it! Plus, you get 8 ounces of this and that is a lot. If you use this mask about once a week, this mask will last for almost a year.
  • Other reviewers have claimed that this mask can stain white washcloths.
  • This mask can be a bit drying, so I would definitely recommend putting on a light moisturizer after using it. I personally recommend using the Eminence Sugar Plum Oil-Free Revitalizer, a moisturizer that is great for acne- prone skin.

Time Used Before Review: I used this once a week for 2 weeks and I love it!

Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Review: Josie Maran- Argan Infinity Cream Intensive Creamy Oil

Hello my lovelies! Today I will be doing a review on the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Cream. I am a huge fan of the Josie Maran line and have been following it since it first appeared at Sephora stores. The line is eco-friendly and supports some great organizations, such as the City of Hope Cancer Center. In addition, every Josie Maran product has argan oil as an ingredient. The oil is great for your skin because it is chock full of antioxidants and minerals. The Argan Infinity Cream features argan oil among several other great ingredients such as, shea butter and avocado oil, to hydrate and condition your skin. According to the official product description, this product “delivers all the moisturizing benefits of argan oil in a portable, nongreasy, creamy oil form. The innovative formula starts as a cream and melts into an oil, making your complexion more luminous while tightening facial contours and preventing inflammation. Use it to hydrate and gently soothe undereyes, smooth flyaways, keep eyebrows in place, and condition lips. Mix it with powder blush or eye shadow to instantly transform it into a cream.”

Ingredients: Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit**, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate**, Beeswax**, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter)**, Glyceryl Dibehenate**, Tribehenin**, Glyceryl Behenate**, Citrus Tangerina (Tangerine) Peel Oil**, Tocopherol, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil*, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil**, Abyssinian Oil (Crambe Abyssinica) Seed Oil**, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil**, Aloe Barbadensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Extract**, Soybean Glycerides**, Linoleic Acid**, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil** Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter**, Aleurites Moluccana Seed (Kukui Nut) Oil**, Macadamia Ternifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil**. *Organic. **Natural.

How to Use: This product has many uses and here are a couple of them.

-Deeply moisturize dry areas of the face.
-Soothe irritated skin caused by rosacea, wind, or sunburn.
-Soften elbows, heels, and other rough patches.
-Keep stray eyebrows in place.
-Smooth flyaways.
-Moisturize at night.
-Prevent razor burn and irritation.

How I Use It: I like to use this as a body moisturizer and as a lip balm before I go to bed. Also, I sometimes use this as an anti-frizz cream on my hair!

Pros:

  • This smells sooo good! It has a light sweet orange scent that’s very refreshing and invigorating.
  • You only need to use a little bit of the product per application. I only use a pea sized amount of this to moisturize my hands and to moisturize both my legs I use about a nickel-sized amount.
  • It’s so versatile! You can use it to keep your eyebrows in place or mix it with powder eyeshadow to create a cream eyeshadow.
  • It is very moisturizing. If I put this on at night I wake up with soft skin! It also really helps with frizzy hair days!
  • It’s small in size and fits perfectly into my purse, making it perfect for traveling.

Cons:

  • The consistency is a bit off. The oil separates from the rest of the ingredients and comes out of the tube first followed by the cream part. Storing the product upright helps a little!
  • It takes a long time to sink it. I have to wait 30 minutes to an hour and that’s frustrating!
  • The price. It costs $28.00 for 2.2 fluid ounces.
  • It’s very thick and oily and I’m afraid to put this on my sensitive, acne prone facial skin, however this may be okay for people who have dry skin.

Time Used Before Review: 3 to 4 times a week for 1 month.

Overall Rating: 4/5

Where to buy: The Josie Maran Website and at Sephora.

Review: The Bamboo Charcoal Japanese Konjac Sponge

photo

Hi everyone! A few weeks ago I entered a contest on the Japanese Konjac Sponge Company FB page and won a free Bamboo Charcoal Konjac sponge. I was instantly excited because lately I have been hearing a lot of hype about konjac sponges. After just one use I was instantly hooked on it! According to the company’s official website:

“Konjac (“Konnyaku”) plant is a perennial belonging to the Araceae family. The botanical name is Amorphophallus Konjac. It is believed to have originated in the Indochinese region and was introduced to Japan from China. The Japanese have used it for over 1,500 years as part of a traditional healthy food and cooking ingredients. Its main component is Glucomannan, and its solution is a calorie-free dietary fiber that is very elastic. Konjac is rich in vitamin (A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, D, & E), protein, lipids, fatty acids and natural minerals such as copper, zinc, iron and magnesium. Combining these natural ingredients with its gentle texture, Konjac is not only establishing itself as a healthy food, but also make it excellent for use in skin care.”

Learn more about the product and my experiences below!

Ingredients: 100% Konjac Glucomannan, Bamboo Charcoal Extract Powder

How to Use It: Rinse and soak the dry sponge with warm water until fully softened and expanded. Cleanse your face with water-soaked sponge or use daily with your favorite cleanser to complement and create a rich lather for an incredibly therapeutic experience.

How I Use It: I first rinse the sponge with warm water until it has been fully softened. I then apply a cleanser and massage my face with the sponge in a circular motion for about 30 seconds. The cleanser that I have been using is the Osmia Organics Black Clay Facial Soap.

Pros:

  • I love, love, love how my skin feels soooo soft and clean after using this sponge! After I use it I feel that my moisturizer tends to sink in better, making my skin even softer!
  • The texture of the sponge feels very nice. It is squishy and reminds me of marshmallows. Also, when I massage my skin with it, it feels soft but firm, providing a gentle exfoliation that doesn’t cause irritation to my sensitive skin.
  • The size of the sponge is just right! It fits comfortably in my hands.
  • The price is great! It only costs $11.50, while brands like Boscia market the konjac sponge for a much more expensive price.

Cons:

  • It does take a while to dry creating an environment for increased bacterial growth. I soak it once a week in hot water to disinfect it.

Time Used Before Review: For about 3 weeks, once every other day, since I don’t like to over-exfoliate my extremely sensitive skin.

Overall Rating: 5/5

Where to Buy: The official company website!

Review: Sequoia Beauty- Honey Berry Enzyme Mask

Hola! Today I will be doing a review on my current favorite facial mask- the Honey Berry Enzyme Mask by Sequoia Beauty. I ordered this mask about a month ago and have been hooked on it ever since. According to the company’s website“Sequoia Beauty is an organic flower and herb based skin care line with an emphasis on local ingredients. The products cater to the needs of your skin, as well as your own physical and spiritual well-being.” The mask fits perfectly in the company’s motto! It contains several great ingredients, such as raw honey, an antiseptic and moisturizer, and royal jelly, an ingredient known for its anti-aging properties. Check out the full ingredient list and my list of product pros and cons below!

Image

Ingredients: Raw Honey, Raw Royal Jelly, Raw Strawberries, Raw Blueberries, and White Grapefruit Essential Oil

Application Instructions: Put on clean skin and leave on for 10-15 minutes.

How I apply it: 10-15 minutes? #PUHLEASE I leave this deliciousness on for a full hour! When I rinse it off I like to first wet my hands and rub my face in circular motions. This mask has strawberry and blueberry grains in it that act as exfoliates.

Pros:

  • The smell! This smells so sweet and honey like!
  • After I take it off my skin feels so soft and moisturized. I can’t stop touching my face!
  • This mask helped to lighten up my acne scars and it keeps my skin clear.
  • It just feels really luxurious!!!

Cons:

  • It’s a bit pricey- $30 for 2 oz. Luckily I got this for $22 during a Black Friday sale over at the Organic Beauty Talk Shop.
  • It tends to drip off my face easily so I can’t move around a lot when I have this on.
  • It’s hard to apply this since it is very sticky. This is good on one hand since the product is truly natural and is made of honey. To get around the stickiness I use a spoon to spread this all over my face. I think it would have been nice if the product came with a mini spatula or a scooper.

Time Used Before Review: I applied a thin layer of this mask twice a week for a month.

Overall Rating: 4.5/5- Is there a way to bathe in this stuff?!
